All CrossFit gyms are not created equal. CrossFit gyms are affiliates, not franchises. As a result each gym reflects the standards and personalities of their owners and members. We encourage people to visit other gyms in the area to find the best fit for you. We firmly believe that the experience, level of coaching and expertise we provide along with the community we are building sets CrossFit SAC apart.

Anyone interested in becoming a member begins with our FREE Intro Class which we book by appointment based on availability. From there we have 5 more Intro Classes that new athletes must attend prior to joining our regular CrossFit classes. You can see our schedule by clicking here.

Unlike most other CrossFit gyms,we do not charge extra for these intro classes, the cost is included in your membership!

The basic format of training is a small group of no more than about 12 people per class. Each class is led by a CrossFit certified instructor who is knowledgeable in the technique and application of each movement in order to provide the best possible training environment. A normal class consists of a trainer led general warm-up, skill practice relevant to the day's Workout of the Day (WOD), the WOD itself and finally cool-down and stretching.

Frequently Heard Excuses

I'm too out of shape to do CrossFit.
No, you're not. Every workout is scaled/ modified/ adjusted to individual capability. People from all fitness levels and backgrounds participate in CrossFit every single day. Not convinced? Check out these videos and let's see if your opinion changes...

I don't have the time to workout.
We understand that time is sometimes scarce, but you don't have to spend hours at the gym to get in shape. Our classes are an hour long, sometimes the actual workout is as short as 5 minutes. We're all busy, but we somehow make time for the things that are important. There is nothing selfish about making time to improve your health and fitness. No one else can do it for you. Think about all the time you dedicate to things in your life that do NOTHING for you, like checking Facebook, or watching TV, now image what you could do for yourself and your health by working out.

But it's so expensive! My gym is only $30 a month.
Fair enough, but what do you get for that $30 a month? Do you get a new workout everyday? Do you get a trainer? Does your $30 include nutritional counseling or one-on-one time with a coach? Do you even know the name of the person working out next to you?  No, at a typical gym you get a bunch of machines, anything more than that is extra money, right? Most fitness clubs provide the bare necessities and then hope you don't show up. They are banking on you not coming in so they can take your money and not have you put any wear and tear on their equipment.

I want to start, I'll join as soon as  ....
This is probably the most common thing we hear. People love what is going on at the gym, they see that they'll be able to make the progress they hope for but some little voice inside says that they have to wait for some magic, perfect alignment of the stars before they allow themselves to begin their new life. Don't let this happen to you. Start now while you can so that two months from now you aren't kicking yourself about all the progress you're not making because you never made the commitment to yourself!

Athlete and Coach Expectations

At CrossFit SAC there are certain expectations that both athletes and coaches are required to live up to. For each there are only three rules.

Athlete Expectations
1. No Ego
  • Scale WOD's appropriately. This means working with your coach to find the best version of the workout of the day for you.
  • Work for maximum benefit, not necessarily for the best time. Strive for full range of motion, required number of reps, proper technique, etc.

2. Be Coachable
  • Respond to instruction, show that you're working to incorporate coaching suggestions.
  • Commit to the process. This means trusting that improvements will come if you remain dedicated and do the things your coaches ask of you.

3. Have Fun!
  • Hopefully this is fairly self explanatory, but if it's not let me clarify. I feel strongly that the time you spend with us at CrossFit SAC should be positive and empowering but also enjoyable.

Coach Expectations
1. Safety
  • Provide a clean and safe training environment.
  • Work with athletes to scale/adjust WOD's appropriately.

2. Preparation
  • Ensure athletes have some exposure to and a comfort level with the movements required to complete each WOD.
  • Develop proficiency with basic movements before progressing more complex movements.
  • Allow athletes to experience proper technique and consistency before striving for intensity.

3. Community
  • Foster comradery and cohesiveness between athletes in order to create a positive and empowering environment.
