I walked through the doors at Crossfit Sac in May of 2014 and my life has never been the same. When I first joined I did have a little background in lifting weights and the basic movements, but I had never done an actual crossfit workout in my life!! I was in a new place where I knew no one, had never heard of the hook grip, and needed flashcards to remember the difference between all of the Olypmic lifts (I didn’t really have flashcards, but they would’ve been handy). My life has been in constant transformation since.
As most of you know, I have been pregnant and have gone through postpartum recovery while a member of Crossfit Sac. Those days of being pregnant, and especially postpartum, were some of the toughest days I’ve ever experienced. I struggled with some postpartum depression and if it wasn’t for Crossfit Sac and everyone who supported me along the way, and still do, I’m sure that time would’ve been even harder(I’m tearing up as I write this). Most days I forced myself to go to the gym because I knew I’d feel better just talking with everyone and just moving my body, even if it didn’t do exactly what I wanted it to at the time. One day Dave even gave me a hug!!!
Fast forward to today. I feel even stronger than I did pre-pregnancy and am able to accomplish movements I never thought possible. I have made life-long friendships that never would’ve happened had I not been a part of this amazing community!! It truly takes a village to raise a small human, so thank you everyone for your help and patience. I don’t think you will ever truly know how much it means to me. I am still a work in progress and truly just striving to be the best version of myself.
