In the age of Paleo, Veganism, the Mediterranean Diet and Keto (and so, so many more diets), it’s overwhelming trying to figure out what to eat. People will swear by the program that led them to success, but is it right for you?

The purpose of this post isn’t to convince you that there is only one way to eat optimally and lose weight. Instead, if we were to take a step back and look at the fundamental root of anyone of the “diets” listed above, we can see a trend. All of these ways of eating are based on consuming whole, real food. The ratios of the macronutrients of each plan is different from diet to diet, sure. However, none of them call for you to eat highly processed or refined foods. Food manufacturers will try to sell their processed, food-like substances to appeal those following a certain way of eating; Atkins bars for those going Keto, “Paleo” muffins and Skittles are vegan, but these foods won’t make you healthier.

The “secret” is that there is no secret. There is trial-and-error, patience, and persistence. It starts with wanting to make a change in your food, figuring out what that change should be and then starting. Even if it’s not perfect.

If you need help figuring out where to start, let me know!
