It’s Not Personal

A friend of mine on Facebook shared this picture. This is a concept we take seriously at the gym. As coaches, we have a responsibility to hold and maintain a high standard, in movement, in coaching and in cultivating our community.

When a coach stops you during the warm-up or the workout to correct something, it’s not because we are picking on you or want to sabotage your workout. We do it because we care. We care about you, your safety and longevity in the gym.

Sure, it can be frustrating to struggle with a technique, we’ve all been there. However, the absolute worst thing we could do is say nothing. That’s not what you are paying for. Just remember, it’s not personal. We want the best for you, even if it means telling you that you aren’t perfect once in a while.
